Are the HCPCS Codes G0541–G0543 still in use or obsolete?

I came across HCPCS codes G0541, G0542, and G0543 in some older documentation and wanted to check if these are still valid for billing, or have they been retired or replaced or something, I know they used to be tied to behavioral health integration services, but I haven't seen them used in recent claims. Does anyone have recent experience with these or knows their current status, I'd appreciate the clarity.

As of 2025, I'm pretty sure these codes are still active and valid for billing under Medicare. These are "sometimes therapy" though so they are billable outside of a therapy plan of care, but if there is a need for physical therapists, occupational therapists, or speech pathologists, then they should be under a therapy plan. Sooo if you're not seeing these codes in recent claims, it's just because there have been same changes in billing practices.

They're still valid and they actually just came into play again for 2025, they're meant for caregiver training sessions without the patient present and can be used in one on one or group formats and yeah, they were tied to behavioral health stuff before, but they've been redefined a bit and now fall under direct care strategies like wound care and infection control

Ok they're still around, but they're not used as much unless you're working in caregiver training or certain care coordination setups. Everyone's saying the same thing unless we all work at the same place hahaha. Anyway, it's best to double-check payer rules though since some still treat them like behavioral health-only.

A programmer I collaborated with last year pointed out those same G codes during a training session. We had to sift thru each payer's website since their policies were all over the place. In the end, I bookmarked about six policy PDFs just to stay on top of things. It was definitely one of those "trust but verify" situations
